1887-1888

Malta, Egypt, India, Burma…

December 27th, 1887

Patiala

Arrived here safely on Saturday night and found dear Major Jacob at the station to receive me, with horse and cart to convey us to his bungalow about a mile distant. Was very glad to find my friend Mr Pile from Bombay was expected on Lord's Day morning, when he arrived. The great distances in India prevent many from being present, so that we are not more than about a dozen. Our meetings on Lord's Day were very happy – a very blessed sense of the Lord's presence and voice – Peace unto you – given to all our hearts very distinctly.
Received a welcome batch of letters – love letters they may well be called from Calcutta, the first sent there from your dear self, Arundel, Harry, Emma, and my dear little Angie with all the thick bunch of kisses. Will answer them in a few days and give you an account of the conference. With much love to you all. Believe me very dearest Angee.

Being very affectionate Husband.
