The Genessee - Buffalo, N.Y

My Beloved Angee,

Arrived here from London this evening and was glad to find your letter of the lst inst. at the P.O with letters from P.F & Co. who are pleased with the New York orders - expect they will be pleased with the openings in Canada - opened with the two best men in Hamilton yesterday and in London this morning - one large firm buying for another with whom they were friendly. It has been very remarkable that I should have been able to do business with nearly every high class man I have called upon in Canada. This is a very fine city and I must have a good battle with it tomorrow, God willing. I came by the Niagara Falls this afternoon - it was very grand - we have had torrents of rain today and now it is blowing a stiff gale of wind. I did not get a cable on Monday at Toronto and fearing perhaps that mine had not reached you and that you would be troubled I cabled again on Tuesday morning after 10 and received the reply at Hamilton that evening with the words at the end Hortop - dead - saved just as I was going to the prayer meeting there. What wonderful mercy is it not - We may well say Oh that men would praise the Lord for this goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men. I wrote Mary Cartwright and dare say she will get the letter by this same mail. I expected to have had a line from Arundel but none was at the office this evening - shall call again tomorrow.

Very wonderful to hear you are keeping well and you will be glad to hear that I am too - what will you say to my returning next January? Not Amen I expect but I shall plod along and when the fish do not any longer take the hook it will be time to go East as they call it. Now with much love to you all believe me my beloved Angee.

Being very affectionate Husband

This is a sort of special letter mind - not my regular one, lots of kisses for all the dear children.
