December 6th, 1886

The Windsor, Fifth Avenue, New York

I have just arrived from Baltimore where I spent a very happy day with dear A. Grace and the brethren - have seen nothing so heart cheering in any part of this vast country - many very bright and happy, but the work at Baltimore is of the most remarkable character I have ever witnessed - visited Philadelphia, Washington and Baltimore last week - magnificent cities - since Thursday intensely cold and all covered with snow. I have done a nice business in each city through the Lord's mercy. The cable I should have received last Monday at Philadelphia to hand here announcing dear Geo. Bazely's death, have also had the one with glad tidings from dear Arundel and give thanks to God for his mercy to dear Harriett and for the fine boy He has given. I expect to get some letters from you tonight or the morning and will write you again then - thought I could just drop you a line tonight. My budget from London is like a volume and requires very careful reading and digesting - the last entry is that on my return from this all round the world trip, I could take the West Indies on my next visit to South America - my atlas becomes a very interesting book to me now, especially Africa and N & S America, India and China and the Australian colonies. Through mercy I am in good health and feel very happy in the work altogether. The Lord make it all up to you my dearly beloved wife in richest comfort to your heart - much love to you all and believe me.

Being very affectionate Husband

Will give you addresses in my next before leaving here.
